Welcome to the Caernarfon!
We are dedicating this space to the promotion of the Caernarfon Harbour to people here and abroad.
Caernarfon Harbour is located on the Menai Strait. It is connected to two rivers, the Cadnant and Seiont making it an essential maritime trading center since the medieval era.
During the 19th Century, the river openings were transformed into harbours. The one at Cadnant was named Victoria Dock while the one in Seiont became the historical Slate Quay that we know now. The Quay has been built to support the local export slate. Copper and Lead Ore were also transported via the Quay giving rise to storage facilities created at the back of the harbor. Most of these structures are still visible to date.
Now, the same area is home to the Galeri. It is a development in the area consist of an art gallery, theater, and restaurants. The addition of the Galeri to the Caernarfon is a welcome improvement to the harbour to attract more businesses and visitors.
